FAQ ROMANCE SCAMS
1. Q: What types of romance scams are there?
A: There are two main types of romance scam which are online and in person.
2. Q: How do I know if I'm in a romance scam?
A: You may be in a romance scam if you have never met in person. Always an excuse and suddenly backing out of plans. Things don't add up, the person claims to live locally but is away for work or family. They ask for money. If you can't search or verify their identity or employment or other details. Their social media looks new or fake. Listen to your gut! It is screaming at you for a reason. Never ever send any amount of money (often request a small amount first as a test). Understand that with AI, scammers can make themselves look or sound like anyone, even by video.
Q: What are the Signs of a Romance Scam?
A: The signs of a romance scam are they ask for money, early declaration of love, claimed emergency or drama. asks about your or your family's finances or assets, identity can't be vetted or verified or seems new or fake, things don't add up. Your gut is telling you! In-person romance scams often have the added factor of a sob story about why they don't have a residence or are about to not have one (same with a vehicle). Pressure to have them move in fast, including with false claims of being employed. They pay the first rent payment and nothing after that. You own property. They hover when you are doing online banking or at an ATM. They offer to run errands for you using your cards and PIN. They offer to get your mail. You suspect mail is missing. They don't introduce you to friends and family. Claims and timelines don't add up.
PERSONAL SAFETY: Never send money to anyone you don't know. The chances of recovering even a small portion are virtually NIL. Never give your PIN, address or personal information. Meet dates at the location and ensure that you are not being followed home.
Private Investigations More Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How did you become a PI?
A: I already worked in related fields. During the worst time of my life, I tried to hire a PI myself and pretty quickly identified a need for better customer service in this field. What I discovered was far worse than anything I imagined. As bad as it was, I'll find a silver lining in almost any situation. I realized that I was good at investigating, moved on with my kids, and parlayed it into a new career.
Q: What's it like being a female private investigator who specializes in the most high-risk situations?
A: Being female investigators has allowed us to obtain access and intelligence where a traditional PI wouldn't. It's a huge plus with surveillance and undercover work. It has been an advantage and benefit to our cases and clients. Plus, women really do have a sixth sense.
Q: Is your job dangerous?
A: It definitely has been, at times. Unlike the vast majority of PI,s (male and do surveillance, almost exclusively), we specialize in high-risk investigations and access supervision, including undercover / covert work. Our most dangerous high-risk experiences have actually been on the parenting time / access supervision side, including being shot at.
